If you’re new to making chocolate covered coconut bars, you might have some questions. Here are some FAQs that will help you get started:

What type of chocolate should I use?

In this recipe, you can use any gluten-free chocolate you like. However, we recommend using dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or chocolate chips for the best flavor.

Can I use sweetened shredded coconut?

If you prefer more sweetness, feel free to use sweetened coconut. However, we found that these chocolate covered coconut bars are perfectly sweetened using unsweetened shredded coconut.

Is it necessary to freeze the bars before covering them in chocolate?

Yes, freezing the bar filling first is a must. We find that freezing them helps to give the bars a firmer texture, making them easier to work with when coating them in chocolate. And also helps the chocolate set without spreading.

Coconut is a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It also contains lauric acid, which has antibacterial and antiviral properties. Here is one of our favorite gluten-free pancake recipe using coconut flour

Nut or seed butter is a good source of protein and healthy fats. It also contains vitamins and minerals. And is an excellent source of fiber. Another recipe with almond butter you may enjoy is the Apple Pie Squares with Almond Butter Caramel.

Transfer the filling to a loaf pan lined with parchment paper, and press it down with the back of a spoon or hands into an even, flat, firm layer. Place the pan in the freezer for 2 hours.

Transfer the bars with the parchment paper onto a chilled tray. The tray should be chilled, and this helps the chocolate set without spreading.

Place a bar of filling onto the tines of a fork and dip it into the melted chocolate mixture to coat.

What to do with leftover chocolate sauce?

Depending on how thick you coat the bars with chocolate, you may have some leftover chocolate sauce. So what can you do with it?

omg, these chocolate coconut bars are incredibly good!

Kristina

Yes SK, since maple syrup is considered a liquid in this recipe you will need to replace it with 1/3 cup warm milk of choice. (coconut, almond)

SK

Hi, Is it possible to replace maple syrup with sugar free replacement and what could be a good replacement? Is it possible to use stevia instead? Thanks, SK
