Moist French Apple Cake filled with soft apples lightly scented with cinnamon. This gluten-free French dessert is made with fresh apples in an extra moist light cake. This lightly sweetened apple cake is probably one of the easiest gluten-free apple recipes for fall.

There is nothing not to love about this French apple cake.

a healthier version of French Apple Cake

To keep this apple dessert healthier, I replaced heart-healthy olive oil for butter, added almond flour, adding extra protein and fiber, replaced white sugar for coconut sugar, and used organic apples.

Conventional apples are on top of the dirty dozen list. This means the apples contain an average of 4.4 pesticide residues and often some at higher concentrations. So using organic apples is a healthier choice.

let’s talk about the ingredients in this gluten-free apple dessert

This apple cake recipe is so easy. Here is why. You will need only ten basic pantry ingredients plus apples. And, you do not need an electric mixer.

By mixing almond flour with a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend, yogurt, and olive oil, the French apple cake is extra moist. The eggs in this dessert recipe will keep this cake extra light, and with a perfect crumb.

And for flavour, vanilla or rum, and just a pinch of cinnamon. The cinnamon is optional, but somehow apples and cinnamon are just meant to be together.

The true secret for the deliciousness in this apple dessert? Plenty of fresh apples, they keep this gluten-free cake so scrumptious!
